Instead, she learns where he is & decides to avenge herself. After being summonsed by police to identify one of the guys who they believe assaulted her & killed David, Erica recognizes him but, doesn't tell the cops. From that point on, Erica becomes an armed & dangerous avenger against violent criminals who she catches in the acts. When the radio host sees teenagers terrorizing riders on the subway where she is, Erica kills them. Knowing their assailants are still at large, Erica buys an unregistered pistol & arms herself. Once released to resume her life after the traumatizing attack & her boyfriend's death, she goes to the police for help & doesn't get any. When Erica regains consciousness in a hospital, a few days after being attacked, she learns David's dead & his dog's missing. The 3rd twisted guy videotapes the crime! While David struggles to stop them, he & Erica are brutally assaulted by 2 of the men.
Erica becomes their next target for rape. When the dog is captured in the park by three men who want money in return for the dog's release David refuses to submit to their demands. They live separately, but frequently walk his dog together in a neighborhood park.
